Update 2:

More info on the location below found by JimboXiii over at VG247.

  • The Stroganov Palace (Russian: Строгановский дворец) is a Late Baroque palace at the intersection of the Moika River and Nevsky Prospekt in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The palace was built to Bartolomeo Rastrelli’s designs for Count Sergei Grigoriyevich Stroganov in 1753.

The interiors were remodeled by Andrey Voronikhin in the 1790s. Today, the palace is part of the Russian Museum and is used as an exhibition hall.

Update 3:

Just got an email from Ubisoft on this matter, heres what they had to say.

  • We are receiving reports that some users visiting the www.splintercell.com website are finding themselves redirected to an unknown location. We are trying our best to resolve the situation, and will update as soon as possible.

In the meantime the Splinter Cell Conviction website is still available on the internal Ubisoft network at http://splintercell.uk.ubi.com/conviction

I can’t decide if it’s clever marketing, or an actual Hack. A quick Google of the guys name doesn’t turn up much info. We’ll soon see I reckon!

  6. Updated the post, Ubisoft have gave a statement.
